Resorting to Dominican Republic Resorts.
Once you've been there, it is not hard to understand why the Dominican Republic is sometimes thought of the gem of the Caribbean. It has bypassed all other Caribbean destinations as the #1 sought out place in the Caribbean to take a vacation. To learn why the Dominican Republic is so popular with vacationers, go to this link. The Dominican Republic basically has 3 main coastal areas. There is the north coast area which is right on the Atlantic Ocean. This coast tends to get more wind and the wind is more constant than other Dominican coasts so places like Cabarete have become really popular for surfing and windsurfing. Of course there is also Sosua and Puerto Plata. The offshore islands are havens and there are many tours that carry tourists out to them every day.

Punta Cana has become such a popular resort area that most Americans who travel abroad have at least considered taking a vacation to this area. Families arrive with kids but couples also travel to Punta Cana for a romantic vacation. Many couples actually get married at the resorts here and some of them offer free weddings in their all inclusive vacation packages. Punta Cana resorts offer many activities to their guests. These include actives like deep sea fishing, beach volleyball, snorkeling adventures, archery, dancing, horse back riding on the beach, boogie boarding, wind surfing, surfing, sailing, and shopping. Of course you can also lounge on the beach or by the pool in the comfortable chairs that are put out or in a palapa (thatched structure with a roof for shade). Now, if you want to have a REAL adventure, take an excursion or a tour with an independent tour operator who really knows the area. Be sure to check out the tours to Saona Island which I think are rated #1 and I can personally attest to.
